OBSESSION AGAINST MOTIVATION

There are many jobs in this country, and also the workers. From all the jobs, many people are more interested in a civil servant. It seems to be the dream job. When someone aspires to get something, he’ll have big motivation to get it. That condition may be existing when someone wants to be a civil servant. At least, there are 3 causes cause people want to be it, though in the end, you can conclude whether the condition is really existing or not.

 The strong cause which can explain why many people want to be civil servant may be caused by financial support gotten. During working, a civil servant usually gets some financial support. One of them is financial support of the salary increase in every year. Even government’s policies in this some years decide to increase the civil servant salary in every year. Not only that, a civil servant also gets financial support when he gets promoted or when he has a new responsibility/ a child. It doesn’t end yet, since a civil servant will get financial support when he has been pension. If it is imagined, everyone must want to get salary when he doesn’t work anymore. These things seem to be the main cause why people want to be civil servant.

 As a result of the financial support gotten, a civil servant will be proud of what he gets. It also makes him proud of their jobs as a civil servant. Thus, the social status will be gotten by him later. The social status in the family for example, parents usually become proud if their child is a civil servant. They are also proud when their child is able to wear the civil servant uniform. It is also able to jack up family status in a big family. When the proud has already appeared in family, it will continue in society. Some people in society sometimes feel coveted if their neighbour becomes a civil servant. In the end, this thing causes people racing to be a civil servant. Although this second cause exists in the society, it may often happen in small region. 

 Beside those two causes, the last cause often appearing is due to the enjoyable work style. It is caused by the statement that the dismissal risk of civil servant is small. During the time, a civil servant actually seldom gets dismissal. Although they do the mistakes, at least the punishment given is just non-activated, but they still get salary. Therefore, civil servants consider whether they work or not, the salary still waits them. Beside the small risk, in civil servant world is also seldom met the competition. The sentence which is match for this thing is smart or not still gets salary. That sentence can sketch whether a civil servant is smart or not, once again they still get salary every month. Therefore, there won’t appear the competition to do the smart employees. Finally, the word enjoyable work style can be explained by two causes above.

 The quantities of people who want to be a civil servant sometimes create a question why they are very obsessed. From the question, at least, there are 3 causes which can be answered that. It is started due to financial support gotten, being continued due to status gotten, and being ended due to enjoyable work style of civil servant. Last, everyone has a motivation to be a civil servant, but from now on, hoping the better motivation to be a civil servant is must be waited.

THORNS BEHIND CARTOON

Cartoon is the one of the favourite characters of children. It serves the entertaining action liked by children. Children consider that cartoons are funny characters because they always show simple funny things. However, some cartoons actually give bad effects. Moreover, some of them don’t give educational value to children.

One of the famous cartoons liked by children is Shincan. He always appears by giving the humorous things. Unfortunately, almost of the scenes is filled by adult contents. Many scenes show the characteristic of Shincan which always flirts to women. The scenes even show Shincan showing his parts of body which is undeserving to show. Shincan doesn’t only show the adult contents, but he also likes forcing his parents. It indirectly teaches children not to obey parents. According to these, Shincan clearly doesn’t represent the character of children.    

While Shincan doesn’t represent the character of children, the other characters, which are contain of a family, Simpsons exactly allude to religions and cultures. Simpsons often tell the badness of the other religions and cultures. Sometimes, the scenes give the conflict scenes among religions and cultures and insult the other religions and cultures. Consequently, it doesn’t teach the different among religions and cultures. Moreover, Simpsons also often show unappreciated character to others. It isn’t only among society, but also among their family. Most of scenes are painted by conflict between family members. Therefore, Simpsons dangerously alludes to the different religions and cultures.

Shincan and Simpson mayn’t be alone, because yellow sponge, SpongeBob also doesn’t give educational value to children. However, SpongeBob differently makes the thorn by showing unreal situation in the story. The story tells about the creatures living underwater which have the condition such as human. Absolutely, it affects the thinking form of children. By showing the unreal situation, children will not understand their real situation in life. The story also has the different environment with children’s environment. Consequently, it makes children don’t learn about their environment.

Not all of cartoons give educational value to children. The cartoons such as Shincan, Simpson and SpongeBob exactly don’t give the educational value to children. Therefore, parents must keep their eyes on their children when children are watching cartoon programme in order to prevent thorns which may be caused by cartoons.

Go Dutch

Bagi sebagian orang, mendengar kata "Dutch" mungkin akan langsung mengingat sebuah negara di Eropa yang hampir 3,5 abad menjajah NKRI ini. Belanda mungkin sebutan yang lebih familiar ditelinga orang Indonesia. Lalu mendengar kata "go", pasti terbesit makna "pergi" dalam bahasa Indonesianya. Dan bila di artikan secara literal, go Dutch berarti pergi ke Belanda.

Tapi bagaimana jika situasinya seperti dibawah ini...

A : Hey, I'm hungry..let's have something to eat!

B : Ok, I think the cafe next to our office isn't bad.

A : Fine, but let's go dutch.

B : Sure, no problem.

Apakah kata "go dutch" pada percakapan di atas bermakna pergi ke Belanda. Tentu tidak, karena go dutch pada percakapan diatas tidak bermakna literal, kata "go dutch" diatas sering disebut sebagai Idiom (English).

Di Eropa, kata "go dutch" biasanya diucapkan saat sedang berada di cafe ataupun restaurant. Pada percakapan diatas, "A" mengatakan go dutch karena ia ingin sistem pembayaran saat di cafe nanti di bayar masing-masing. Sebagai contoh jika "A" menghabiskan makanan seharga Rp 20.000,- maka "A" membayar Rp 20.000,- dan hal yang sama jika "B" menghabiskan makanan seharga Rp 10.000,- maka "B" membayar Rp 10.000,-. Sehingga "go dutch" dapat diartikan membayar masing-masing atas apa yang dibelinya.

Lalu yang jadi pertanyaan, kenapa harus mengungkapkan ungkapan/ idiom seperti itu, bukankah memang seperti itu harusnya. Ternyata, di Eropa ketika orang-orang ingin makan dengan rekan-rekannya di cafe ataupun restaurant, setidaknya ada 3 cara untuk membayar makanan mereka.

Pertama adalah American way, ini berarti jika ada 3 orang menghabiskan Rp 30 ribu untuk makan, maka tiap orang akan membayar Rp 10 ribu, di Indonesia orang mungkin lebih mengenalnya dengan "patungan/ sum-sum-an"

Kedua Japanese way, jika pada American way seluruhnya membayar atas seluruh biaya yang dihabiskan, maka pada Japanese way, yang membayar hanya 1 orang saja. Di Indonesia hal ini lebih dikenal dengan "traktir"

Dan yang ketiga atau yang terakhir adalah Ducth way, yaitu tiap orang membayar masing-masing atas apa yang sudah dibelinya.

Jadi jika anda berkunjung ke kawasan Eropa dan bertemu rekan-rekan anda yang sudah lama tinggal disana, jangan heran jika hendak makan, rekan anda akan bertanya "American way, Japanese way or Ducth way?"

Dan yang mungkin jadi pertanyaan terakhir, kenapa harus American, Japanese and Dutch?

Many people often hear the word “philately”, but maybe just few ever heard about numismatics. According to sources, philately can be said as the study or activity collecting the stamp and numismatics is the study or activity collecting of currency, including coins, tokens, paper money, and related objects. Numismatics not only can be the funny activity, but also it can be the challenge activity. It’s challenge because collecting isn’t an easy thing. Moreover, what items are collected by numismatists (person collecting the old item) isn’t easy for getting, especially old money.

Most of the numismatists collect old money as their collection, although sometimes they collect the other item. Usually, the old money divided into two; coins and bank notes.

Its activity also can be the source of infestation. The old Bank notes usually have high prices, according to the quality and the age of the money. In the other word, if the money has old age, it has expensive price. But, the most important point is the quality. So, if you have coins or bank notes which are unused, don’t directly throw it into the rubbish, because maybe your child or your grandchild will get extra benefit from the old money indeed.
